5 CHILDHOOD THINGS you probably don't remember \\ Joy

1:34 PM

Lately, I have been realizing something I've been doing wrong. I haven't been thankful. Thankfulness may seem easy and often over-rated; thanksgiving, little quotes on signs, etc.
But in reality, it's often the core of almost EVERYTHING.

Thankfulness fuels what we do and who we are. Without it, we lose joy. And joy is one of the most important things. Without joy, we don't have inspiration. Excitement. Friendliness.
Instead, the tiny cloud in our blue sky is the only thing we can see.

Open your eyes right now. Look at the closest thing to you or look at everything surrounding you. Aren't you blessed?

Even if your life seems, after this still, to be one black cloud, even if you don't have many things or many hopes or many dreams, and even if it seems like it's just pouring buckets...you are still incredibly blessed. You have the amazing opportunity to ask your Creator, your Maker, for those things you don't have. For that cloud to go away. What a blessing, and not one of us are without it.

So I've made this little post for a small piece of happiness (or possibly reminisce) so that everyone who reads it can smile on the other side of their computers/phones/laptops and remember when they were little tater-tots.
Basically...5 childhood things you completely forgot about. Your welcome.

1} Between the Lions, Qubo & Arthur

Image result for between the lions

Can't say that I remember most of these episodes. What I do remember is early mornings (or early to a homeschooler) up, with the t.v on, and Mr. Smarty Pants. And Cliffhanger. Wasn't Between the Lions the best show?! I gotta watch this again, no kid.
My earlier childhood t.v was made up of Dora the Explorer (apparently map eating the screen used to scare me), Veggie Tales, and Threads. Then it was Strawberry Shortcake, Qubo (Babar, Jane and the Dragon, etc.) CLIFFORD the Big Red Dog and Arthur. I remember me and Josh literally got into a squabble over what in the world Arthur was. He's an Anteater. He looks more like a human with huge ears and a little ink-dot nose.

Oh, I almost forgot the Bernstein Bears!

2} VHS, PS2, and Gameboy

Could Your Disney VHS Tapes Be Worth Thousands Of Dollars?:

I don't know if any person under the age of 15 ever watched these as a kid....but I had a collection. And the funnest part about these things was playing with the tape-wheel-winder thingies, and the little flap-slot in the T.V. It was just entertainment before the show.
Play Station 1 and 2 were it for awhile. We upgraded to the PS2 when I was little. It played games such as Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, and Sly Cooper. No kid now will ever know who any of those characters are.

Gameboy's are like the original D.S if you've never had one. They were sorta a little square (like a mini laptop xD) and if it wasn't working right, you blew the dust out of the game slot.

I feel old.
Crash Bandicoot was thee game. Him and his jean shorts, lol. When me and Josh were sick, we use to 'text' each other with the D.S chat thing (our spelling oh goodness). Then we had the old Mario games. NO ONE KNOWS FRUSTRATION IF THEY HAVEN'T PLAYED A D.S GAME THAT STARTED YOU BACK AT LEVEL ONE.

3} Silly Bands & Heelys

Bieber, Twilight and Crocs are just some of the Things 2000s Kids Will Miss The Most:

Somehow I even ended up with a bunch of these...I think I still have one survivor laying behind my bed. Back in the 2010's kids were obsessed with these things. I heard they even restricted them from some schools because somehow some kids had managed to find harm in them.

There was literally a silly band for everything. If you never heard of them, just think of the rainbow bracelet craze except in one stretchy rubber band in the shape of some undistinguishable walrus or turtle. Yep.
Josh had a pair of Heelys (they were all the rage for the 'cool' kids...and all the dangerous) though I can't recall where they had their end. Basically, Heelys were a pair of shoes with wheels on the bottom so you could 'skate'. Thus, walking was made faster. And more dangerous.

4} Polly Pockets and Littlest Pet Shop

Untitled en We Heart It.:

Right now, in my closet, there's a bag of 60+ Littlest Pet Shops. I had been collecting those wide-eyed animals since probably 5 years old. The best thing was opening up a LPS for Christmas, especially if it was a puppy or bunny of some sort. When I was little, though, they had pretty unoriginal names. Lizard was graciously dubbed Lizard and turtle was titled nothing less than Turtle.

I have to say I was disappointed when I read that they had officially stopped manufacturing Polly Pockets. Obviously, every girl had a Barbie doll, but a Polly Pocket, now, she had style. Her clothes were rubber, which made them waterproof so that they could go swimming, and I even had one with joints in the knees and elbows.
If you owned one of these, you probably had all of the outfit except the shoes (or maybe one of each pair) and if you still have a shirt or two laying around, you probably feel old when you realize it's disintegrating.

5} Mr. Potato Head and Break the Ice

Image result for ice break board game 2000's

Wow, just looking at this picture is like a flashback. A flashback to those little icebreaking sticks that broke so easily. I don't even have a clue what the purpose of that game was; we just hammered at the ice. One day the blue container broke and that was that.
Mr. Potato Head will forever be a classic in each one of our minds, I think. I don't even care if Lays wants to turn him into a cannibal. He'll always be one of the characters on Toy Story, and one of the best 'surprise' containers, filled with the craziest things, that we ever had.

There is so many more hilarious childhood things (of me and my siblings invention) that swirl around my head. And I know that almost everyone reading this post has at least one decent joy of their childhood if they can relate to the above. So be thankful today for those golden, priceless memories.

Did you know Larry the cucumber back when he had a deep voice?

Have you ever sang the "We got cake song"?

Did you relate?

MY BOOK IN PRINT // SQUEALS & PICTURES of GIFT OF THE SEA

10:39 AM

Everyone listening...I did it. I ordered Gift of the Sea in PRINT. All my work...nano, handwriting, notes, scribbles, thoughts, difficulties, writer's block...here it is. Embodied in this cover and full of English words.

LOOK AT THAT ^. Remember nano??? Remember early mornings writing with me? Remember the quotes/excerpts? All the thoughts, all the adventure...it all started on a balmy summer day in 2016, with a long sheet of paper and a calligraphy pen. Now it's a book. A real, honest-to-goodness book.

This is draft 1, so after I go through with a mechanical pencil and jot mistakes/thoughts/details and make an indirect but detailed enough plot for book 2 (YES YOU READ THAT RIGHT) I'll have a hint of draft 2. Who knows when it'll be ready. Maybe by draft 10 *smirks*. How can I finish my novel when every 3 months I look back at my writing and make this face like *BLAH*?

: Sag mal, wo hast du denn den Einkaufszettel hingelegt? : ... ... : ... Liebling! ...der Zettel für unseren Einkauf? : ...jetzt nicht! Warte doch bitte ausnahmsweise eeeeinmal einen kurzen Augenblick ab! ... *ein kurzer Augenblick später* : ...aber irgendwann müssen wir den Kindern doch etwas zu essen geben!:

It's been quite a journey and I've only just begun.

For this first draft, I used LuLu.com and got two prints with a coupon code (from my dear coupon queen friend) for $8.00...something. That includes shipping.
The cover I made with canva, using a free image and using my own image of the ship, which I photographed only 15-20 minutes away from where I live.

The hardest part was definitely editing it with the LuLu system. GETTING THE SPINE TO LINE UP. You may not know now, but just you wait. You'll be making your spine title a whole lot smaller.
And then as you can see, there's little 'waves' below the chapters, that kept moving every time we uploaded it (and I say we because Mom got in on this ordeal). And then the cover, because I had saved it as jpeg and just uploaded it as that, it changed like I had used a filter (but actually it looked mystical so we just kept it).

FINALLY IT WAS ORDERED.

After a whole day on the computer, with tired and dry eyes, I knew my book was soon to be on its way.

It arrived at our local post office about 8-10 days after (okay so I don't remember now exactly when). Mom filled the post-lady completely in about my book, and how I had ordered it, and then

and then

I found the scissors and opened it up right then an' there.

I could not stop smiling for anything...like a kid who's just opened a toy on Christmas that's as big as he is. Mom had the post-lady read the back...or she asked to I honestly don't remember which. In the heat of this, another lady walked into the post office and got quite excited over the whole thing.

"No, it's not for sale now" *thoughts* > that'll take years if it ever is.

Well...that's the story. And now everyone who comes to the house has held it (and I'm blushing somewhere in some small corner). And I'm partially afraid they'll open to some dramatic scene or some grammar mistake, and then I'll be truly mortified

You Know You are a WRITER If...

1:55 PM

This post? It's all about the wordiest, most creative peoples; writers. We are storytellers, dreamers, thinkers...it goes on and on. We see things others can't. It's a talent from God. And yes, we have probably some of the most known inside jokes. This post is about our inside world *oooh*.

"At last, a short meagre man, in a tarnished waistcoat, desired to see the garret, and when he had stipulated for two long shelves, and a larger table, hired it at a low rate. When the affair was completed, he looked round him with great satisfaction, and repeated some words which the woman did not understand. In two days he brought a great box of books, took possession of his room, and lived very inoffensively, except that he frequently disturbed the inhabitants of the next floor by unseasonable noises. He was generally in bed at noon, but from evening to midnight he sometimes talked aloud with great vehemence, sometimes stamped as in rage, sometimes threw down his poker, then clattered his chairs, then sat down in deep thought, and again burst out into loud vociferations; sometimes he would sigh as oppressed with misery, and sometimes shaked with convulsive laughter. When he encountered any of the family, he gave way or bowed, but rarely spoke, except that as he went up stairs he often repeated,
[Greek:—Hos hupertata domata naiei].
This habitant th’ aerial regions boast;
hard words, to which his neighbours listened so often, that they learned them without understanding them. What was his employment she did not venture to ask him, but at last heard a printer’s boy inquire for the author."
~the Rambler, Samuel Johnson

This morning I was reading British Lit (and btw I found it very interesting that Samuel Johnson was saved by John Wesley), and couldn't help but smirk when the above described mad-man, who laughs and talks at night, has a hoard of books, and sometimes sighs as in misery, turned out to be nothing less than an author. It is so realistic, isn't it?

Ha I find myself a little crazy when I do this. At least I'm not alone:

It's actually a very disturbing business. You could go and live a simple, easy, happy life. Or, you could wake yourself up at night with a random, has-to-be-remembered idea, leap out of bed in the cold, find a piece of paper and sloppily write on it (all in the dark) only to find the next morning it no longer holds the same pizzazz.

You could go visit a friend, have a nice day, and come home. Or, you could get so stuck on finishing those three chapters (completely incoherent of life) that by the time your done, the sun is setting, you forgot everything you were supposed to do, and your eyes feel like they've been starched from looking at the computer screen.

We writers, we chose the hard way.
We're special.

Why are we special? Because we see beauty in the ugly, light in the dark, faces out of thin air. The characters we create have never existed, and if we did not create them, they would never live. Movies, books...they come from writers. Those crazy people that stay up late and laugh at inside jokes no one else knows.
The urge just keeps gnawing at you until you sit down and just write. A thought, a poem, a song, maybe a whole book if the urge is strong enough. Writing takes away the longing but only for awhile, then we must write again.:

There is something in us that takes a drop of water and makes a river out of it.
One sparkle of the eye, one little smirk can spark our imaginations till our fingers have to put our minds to the limit. Happiness can not merely be described in one word; for words is not exactly what we use, but whole sentences and paragraphs like skyscrapers forming a city; stars in the night sky.

vintage everyday: 21 Emotional Vintage Pictures Show People with Their Joy:

And the indescribable is, even in it's elusiveness and faraway voice, made more understandable.

 :

Writers, you are rare. You are special.

Don't give up hope. When there is nothing left to write about, write about that. Some Creator-inspired message is waiting in the tips of your fingers.

So go.

Never give up, never give up.

Keep writing, my friends.

MESSY Bun Hats and Pinterest Tries of the Week (Ft.my blue dance costume)

12:37 PM

Messy Bun Hat Bow and Pom-Poms "Snow Shoe Hare" In Frosty Blue Denim, Juniors
(my first modeling shot xp)

Well, me and Mom caught onto the trend of "messy bun hats" which are basically crocheted hats with a stretchy ponytail hole in the top for your bun. Actually, Mom caught onto it. Mine....are now back at their humble beginnings in the yarn pile, dismantled. I am completely taken by this one Mom's made (matter fact, if it doesn't sell, I'm going to keep it). Using a rustic/faded denim-like color and THE SOFTEST Angora white yarn you've ever touched is what I call our...

Messy Bun Hat Bow and Pom-Poms "Snow Shoe Hare" In Frosty Blue Denim, Juniors and Ladies One Size Fit's All: Angora and Wool

Yep, that.

So I tried my first Pin (or whatever). We were going to a local Valentine's Crafters Market, so, along with a pair of blue jeans and a white turtle neck, I did the "Hair Bow" hairstyle.

Hair Bow:

(the perfect looking tutorial with sleek, unknotted and shiny hair)

(how mine turned out--and yes I used a filter no I did not radically bleach my hair)

I kept a bunch of hair down as well and had many compliments! So glad I tried this; will do again.

GUESS WHAT??? We tried on our costumes at dance.
To be honest I have mixed emotions. The colors are beautiful...but the tutu looks like a frazzled head and the sparkles...just go everywhere. Literally, the dance floor was a SEA.

Here's to saying goodbye *waves crochet hook* I'll be back with more of the wove.

"You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have loosed my sackcloth and girded me with gladness."

-Psalm 30:11

PHOTO SHOOTS 4 Real = Starting A Business & PINNING all the Day Long

2:00 PM

Some girl's been busy taking pictures...almost all day. And *ahem* in Sarah's words "Gone on Pinterest" (or however you said it dear no don't hit me with that donut pillow). So, let's re-wind.

Me and Mom started a business for our art...crochet accessories (baby goods, headbands hats & the like), knitted stuff (cowls & such), signs (which is where I come in...heehee you know I've always got a paintbrush stashed somewheres *frowns* unless my rabbit's eaten it) and other things like chalkboards.

So, this last weekend we took a step up and started a Pinterest.

(Ft. My baby "in the Garden" carrot hat...like it?)

(those burnt pages are from the 1930's, BTW)

(what other prop than rose petals?!)

Anyways...it's been SO MUCH FUN just snapping pics and making them so much more professional than I thought I could do. We now have 20 items on our shop, I'm proud to say, and new items are listed every week if not ever-other-day. So, here's a big virtual invite to come check us out. It's DandeLion Shoppe. You can get our shop updates on Pinterest right over here.

Okay, you all got me. I started a Pinterest too. Go and look and see...because I have 10 boards and 300+ pins already. If you think my LOLx2 board is funny (then we should be friends) let me know, alrighty? *whispers* here's the link...Me on Pinterest.

I couldn't stop laughing. Quote from Jane Austen, Pride & Prejudice. #quotes #literature #humor @Trudy B Medeiros:

Did you realize everyone replaced the once popular "FYI" with "BTW"?

the LAST March 4 Life // A WRITER'S Place (or the Library of Congress)

10:46 PM

So...there's this thing. It's a march. In the nation's capital.

It's to protect life.

Why do we need it?

Because people are killed.

Babies. Who cannot speak.

Or defend themselves.

Who are we?

We are their voice.

We march for God...we march for life.

Okay, insiders view? It was c-o-l-d. COLD. fierce wind, people. The crowd? It was a sea. People from FRANCE came for this!!

France!

And Canadians...and many more countries and languages I cannot comprehend. I spoke some French with a super nice Canadian lady. D.C is a culture trip.

I enjoyed this march more than any of them; these marchers are our family. They are our brothers and sisters in Christ! What a feeling when we all come together! We are praying that 2017 will be the last March for Life...that the war will be won, and life will win. Babies can feel joy in the womb.

Image may contain: 1 person, smiling, crowd, shoes and outdoor

I TOTALLY SAW THIS GUY and his rock'n sign! Everyone loved it! Thank you, guy ;)

For an added exclusive...guess whom went to the library of congressss (and saw lotsa books)?

(haha I got caught for using my flash so enjoy this one)

(by the way...keep in touch. A very special post featuring a very special book is coming!)

Are you for life?

Did you see the march on the web/t.v?

Are you praying for the U.S babies?

...And to All A Good Night // Donald Trump in Gingerbread Form + 100 Christmas Cookies

1:05 PM

Me talking to Mom "We should make these little gingerbread men into baby Jesus. No, that would be sorta weird."

Me and Mom making sugar cookies....

Mom "Mic likes to make a three-course meal from one."

Me "Well, it looks good."

And THEY DO...DON'T THEY??? There's probably about 60 something sugar cookies, and about 3 dozen gingerbread men. IT'S TOO HARD TO LOOK AND NOT EAT.

Image result for home alone eating gif

I always like icing the gingerbread men...because they are so unique, you know? In spirit of the election, I made a replica of the president-elect, Donald Trump.

(I know you like the 'swoop' hair)

I watched Disney's A Christmas Carol last night. Through the whole movie, I think one gains a sense at the end...the purpose of Christmas. Joy. We are not in darkness any longer. And that is the truest meaning of Christmas...that we have a Saviour, to set us free from sin.

Well, as my hair is up in pin curls, and my Dad is calling me 'Aunt Jemima'...I must leave.

Merry Christmas, my wonderful blogger people. And to all a good night.

Do you make Christmas cookies?
Have you ever watched the end of Disney's 'A Christmas Carol' feeling like you just came from a hurricane?

A CHRISTMAS COSTUME PARTY + WHAT I WORE // THE STICKY BANDITS

7:22 PM

I HOSTED A CHRISTMAS COSTUME PARTY.

(okay, well...for the youth group, but still) It was so much fun, wish you all could have been there. I believe my earliest preparations for this extravaganza were in November...so yes, I've been quite excited for quite some weeks.

MY COSTUME....was a vintage wind up doll. You know that far-away wish to DRESS LIKE A JANE AUSTEN HEROINE at a ball??? Well, it came true.

It was my very first time wearing real heels...and I did a 'penguin shuffle'. Yes, I was about 5'9 with heels on.
It was also my very first time with penciled eyebrows. Boy, was that different. *Walks into the bathroom* *looks up at the mirror* *astonished face*.

MY HAIR....oh, Mom did a lovely job. I pinned curled ALL of it the night before, then Mom put it up in combs and clips, and just curled a few strands with a curling rod. I had a blouse buttoned up my neck, with a green ribbon tied, and a white bow directly across from my wind-up.

THE GINGERBREAD HOUSE. Haha..............that thing. Our icing bag burst where the zip lock was, and literally just went *GLOP* onto the table (Friends staring at me while I have no idea that I just lost 1/5th or more of the bag). So, we tried icing stuff out of the wasted icing with our hands, thus the title for our team, from that classic movie sequel, Home Alone 2.

(this isn't even our first house. don't ask)

THE PARTY, it turned out to be pretty epical (yes I just created a new word. Ye may use it if you wish). There was Winnie the Pooh, Dolls, Woody from Toy Story (yes Sarah) Mr. Monoply...etc. Overall, I believe all the planning, glue-gunning, stapling, holly leaf-cuts, pin-curling, and anxious waiting was worth it.

After all, isn't Christmas really the most wonderful time of the year?

Jesus=joy

Have you ever (tried) built a gingerbread house?
What toy would you have been?

Beauties of November // HITTING 50K & WINNING NANO...plus other stuffs

11:03 AM

#1 Handing out food at church
. THERE WERE SO MANY TURKEYS-AROUND 200-300-of them *whew* It was actually tons of fun to bring grocery bags full of food and heavy turkeys to people. And to refill tables with boxed brownie mix.

#2  WINNING NANOWRIMO WITH 53,034 WORDS
AAAAAAAAAHHHH. I STILL CANNOT FULLY COMPREHEND IT! I WON I WON!!!! *throwing chocolate chip cookies in the air* *throwing book pages like they do in the movies*.

Image result for tangled gif

*squeals* *I can't believe I DID THIS!*

#3 ENDING GIFT OF THE SEA
OKAYYY (doesn't know how to repeat the above squealing again). GIFT OF THE SEA is ended. Just like that. Boom. Wow. But....first draft, riggghhhttt?

#4 Thanksgiving
Which is always an amazing time. The FOOD smelled SO good, and we had pumpkin pie & stuffing (my Mom and me make the best, by the way) &  watched the dogggg showww on T.V. And, by the way, I skyped a really awesome person on her birthday the day before ❤ your the bestest!

#5 French & double Pirouettes
(just kinda figured those go together) My double pirouette is not as good nor as perfect nor as balanced as I would wish it be right now (and what's with this I can hardly do it while someone is watching me thing? I mean come on!) But French is coming along quite fine.
*Que Passepartout trying to speak French in Around the World in 80 Days*

Oh, yes. I ALSO PUT MY FOOT ON OUR MANTEL. *Amazed emoji*

Image result for Lucy and ballet gifs

#6 Walking on the biggest sandbar ever
I have lived right on this beach my whole life...and never do I remember being on such a HUGE SANDBAR...

#1 Falling out of a pirouette & landing on my tush
Which, technically isn't the funnest thing ever. #lookingupfromthegroundlikeatoddler.

#2 Sprinkling the dance floor with bobby pins
I. HAVE. A. LOT. OF. HAIR. OKAY? So it takes a lot of...okay, a ton of bobby pins to hold it all up in one little ballerina bun. And when you are turning your head at the rate of a second, bobby pins are just going to shoot out everywhere. I'd just prefer them to at home, not at the dance studio. It's like I leave a trail, and suddenly there is some little girl behind me trying to hand back a bobby pin or so. *head in hands*

#1 The story that inspired the Sound of Music, the Story of the Trapp Family Singers. I haven't finished it yet-yes, because of nano craziness this month-but so far I've enjoyed it's little humorous tidbits and heart-felt holiday reminisces. AND of COURSE #2 my own book! Still working on that cover, so, don't worry that hunk of draft up there isn't final. This whole writing journey has been fun. I'm about to see where editing will take me...hopefully to a printed copy of the first draft of Gift of the Sea.

#1 For the EPIC Masquerade/costume/theme Christmas party I'm planning for my youth group!!! Ah! It's a *toy* theme, so you dress as your favorite childhood toy. I'm deciding whether or not to be a wind-up doll, or a stuffed animal. I believe I'll choose the wind-up doll in the end.

#2 For completing my first crochet project
As shown below, this is the little fellow I'm knitting for my niece. She is going to be wearing either a pink sweater or a pink dress, and a pink scarf. IT'S SO CUTE!!

#3 For buying a print copy of Gift of the Sea...and Christmas
What else could any writer be excited for then her own book in her own palms? And also...I've been listening to Christmas music.

How was your November?
What would you be at a Toy Masquerade??

8 DAYS LEFT OF NANO // 40,000 WORDS

11:07 AM

EVERYONE. How is Nano almost gone?? Where has November flown to?

More importantly...how did I hit FORTY THOUSAND WORDS???!

I've learned a lot...about my characters...about writing...about pushing through and forcing yourself to just keep typing. To name ten things that really stick out...

1} Dialogue makes characters' pop

2} I can barely write while someone's on the phone

3} I write 70% better in the morning

4} I'm going to dread editing this heap of sad grammar

5} Description is best (for me) when related to other things

6} Characters must be flexible

7} Write down ideas in order to know what comes next

8} Just go with that hunk of unplanned story line

9} Infuse your view into one of your character's views

10} Don't be terribly afraid to make art out of character's appearances

Something I have so much writer-ish fun with is naming chapters. A-hem, for instance....

Chapter 4
Of  Dawn and Dusk and All Things in between

Chapter 7
The Tide That Never Set

Chapter 12
The Snow People on Whistle Way (I particularly like this one...feels like I'm in an old 20th century poem)

Well, I suppose I should be letting go of this keyboard now (as I'm smelling chicken soup and remembering I have at least 500 words left to write today). WAIT...you wanted an excerpt, didn't you *wags finger*?

Where are you with Nano?
Did you know today is Sarah's birthday? Have you congratulated her yet? No? GO NOW!
Happy Thanksgiving!
