8 DAYS LEFT OF NANO // 40,000 WORDS

EVERYONE. How is Nano almost gone?? Where has November flown to?

More importantly...how did I hit FORTY THOUSAND WORDS???!


I've learned a lot...about my characters...about writing...about pushing through and forcing yourself to just keep typing. To name ten things that really stick out...

1} Dialogue makes characters' pop 

2} I can barely write while someone's on the phone

3} I write 70% better in the morning

4} I'm going to dread editing this heap of sad grammar

5} Description is best (for me) when related to other things

6} Characters must be flexible

7} Write down ideas in order to know what comes next

8} Just go with that hunk of unplanned story line

9} Infuse your view into one of your character's views

10} Don't be terribly afraid to make art out of character's appearances 

Something I have so much writer-ish fun with is naming chapters. A-hem, for instance....

Chapter 4
Of  Dawn and Dusk and All Things in between

 Chapter 7
The Tide That Never Set

Chapter 12
The Snow People on Whistle Way (I particularly like this one...feels like I'm in an old 20th century poem)
Well, I suppose I should be letting go of this keyboard now (as I'm smelling chicken soup and remembering I have at least 500 words left to write today). WAIT...you wanted an excerpt, didn't you *wags finger*?

Where are you with Nano?
Did you know today is Sarah's birthday? Have you congratulated her yet? No? GO NOW!

    I CAN'T BELIEVE NANO IS ALMOST OVER! I'm currently at 43k, and am hoping to write the rest this weekend. (But with Thanksgiving, we'll see how this goes XD)
