THE LION of many COLORS (a watercolor)

I'm not really into African colors...or Reggae music or the colors red and orange. 
But my Dad, now............he played reggae music on the week before Christmas. He loves lions' manes and all that island-y music stuff. 

Literally, I've had "Swahili gospel mix" pop up on my Youtube recommendations page.
So I dug into the creative folders stored way back in my brain, and thought of something him.

Something in Isaiah. Something with a Reggae flair.

Yesterday I set out, determined to get a tan with Mom.
And I burnt.
Like a redhead. *shrieks*

then this morning, I had to cringe while suiting up in a leotard and dance tights.

But I'll have a tan...right?

She Could Only Be A WRITER

As November chills have been calling to each other from the burgundy leaves in the trees, so I have been singing 'Down to the River'. I have officially written over 30 PAGES this month. And painting is not lacking. Or movie watching (I WATCHED THE SOUND OF MUSIC FOR THE FIRST TIME. It was epic and watching it makes me happy).

Autumn

October Beautiful

October. 

 It's sound is like a whisper taking flight on the tips of the autumn leaves as they flit through the cool, crisp air. It's like the garland over the gate of the end of the year, looping down proudly with red and brown, gold and orange. October is the flight through seasons, that gently pushes you, happily, into the coming fall.






Welcome October. 

 Stay awhile, bring some gifts of Mums and of friends, pumpkins, hot cocoa and such. Then leave slowly, after every beautiful leaf has descended onto the earth floor. Thank the Lord for painting October so brilliantly beautiful.

Drink Root Beer FLOATS

It is my belief that root beer floats are one of the funnest, tastiest things to drink. I also believe that when you take the appearance of your rabbit in watercolor, and give him one of the above mentioned floats, combined with a pair of sunglasses, you have an icon of summer. So, here's to the very last bit of summer '16 *clink*.

An ARTIST Creates the Things Only She Can See

It is magnificent how much enjoyment one person can have from 200 note cards and a palette of watercolors. Painting is not just the same with every person; it's like writing. It is unique and original to you because it is how you see it. And sometimes it is only you that can see it in that way.

Once Upon A Time, Calligraphy Became Alive

My first photo is done with a calligraphy pen (black ink) then traced with a paintbrush and golden paint. The feather is done by paintbrush only. 'Once Upon a Time' is such a classic, whimsical beginning to so many fairy tales-and a golden feather will fit perfectly with this genre.

This particular painting is done with brush and brush only. Like the others, I used poster board, which is a useful platform for a calligraphy pen and paint. And roses? And nighttime? And those evenings where balmy bay winds flow from window to window through the house? Poetry breaths summer nights.

Totally mixing up the 1950's and 2015, for a timeless Cinderella theme. The cutouts are actually from Mother's day cards. Recycling and crafts go hand-in-hand.And the blue ink is done in a Gothic style with a wider calligraphy tip.

These designs are cutouts from Mother's Day cards as well. The kettle, the colors, the flowers, speak...British and summertime and tea. All in one sign. This project isn't done yet, thee 'calligraphying' is still in waiting...what do you think might go there?
