5 CHILDHOOD THINGS YOU PROBABLY 'DO' REMEMBER || the grand sequel you've been waiting for + I'M 15

11:52 AM

Turning 15 has made me think about how old I am. It just gets older n' older n' older from this point, basically. And you know what??
I still remember when I thought being 10, was, well, that was it.
And I can also recount when my 14  year old brother would tell me I could not come to things because 10 was too young. How that used to spark my temper! How young I was then!
How young he was!

I'm learning so many things, one being that God listens to your prayers, so, please pay attention to what your praying. And be careful. Listen for warning signals. One day can make you feel a whole lifetime older. As L.M Montgomery's words keep popping in my head...

“The body grows slowly and steadily but the soul grows by leaps and bounds. It may come to its full stature in an hour.”
Extremely true. God can be working on us to get us to a certain point, and then-BLAM-suddenly were at a low point. And our soul can grow and learn so much from these little learning lessons.

"For the LORD disciplines those he loves, and he punishes each one He accepts as His child."

Okay, reading that, you're probably like "K I'm scared now."  But lemme help you for a moment. Sometimes we are unconsciously going in directions that would mess up our lives. Not necessarily wrong or right, just paths that would not be best for our characters, our joy, or our Christian relationship. So God has to put his hand in front of us; and sometimes we run into it. So yes, it can hurt. But when we get over the pain, we see the beauty, and when our bruises heal, we can see the cliff feet away.

God knows us. Our quirks. Our advantages in life and disadvantages. We have to let go of the steering wheel. Which, trust me, is not easy. But what we don't realize is we could be making a simple task way harder than it needs to be.

So let go for a moment.
And maybe laugh at yourself...it helps.

*realizes this movie is from 2004*

WOAH.

When I was a wee bobby *laughs* this was one of those movies I literally watched till I COULD PLAY IT IN MY HEAD. Dunno why I liked it so much; perhaps it was the rooster with the instrument (was that a guitar or a banjo or what even), or when Donald gets mad, or the old-timey setting, or Mickey's ginormous eyes when he went to cry. Come on you all remember that.
I don't even know if other people watched this.
But let's just say I watched it enough for other people.

the Backyardigans

DON'T EVEN LIE, I know you remember this. I legit just had a small revelation when I found out it was a Canadian-American show...so that would be why there was a moose. *brain expands*
This show made me wander where and why people had propeller beanies. Or why penguins would wear propeller beanies. That's right, were gettin' deep.
There also came a time when, after some suspended adventure moment, they would all stop and sing, and me and Josh started yelling at the T.V.

Lincoln Logs & Baby Alive

I was a bit of a tomboy when I was little (okay I was a lot of a tomboy. Frogs and mud were it back then), so building log cabins with Lincoln Logs beside Josh and then mixing Legos into the party was an average play-day. Lincoln Logs are just the smartest thing. Until your brother thinks it's fun to knock over your carefully constructed dream home...

*WAR WAR III BEGINS*

My friend had a Baby Alive when I was about 5 or 6. Some of you all might have cherished and loved those things, so please don't be offended when I say that it was creepy. I mean it could pee, people, and it had the literal weirdest feeling skin and hair. I'm so happy we did not join the mess-making inanimate object train. *whew* *shivers*.

Gone Fishin' & SCRABBLE

Gone Fishin:

*Sees this on Pinterest*

*shouts incredulous to Mom*..."YOU REMEMBER THAT GAME WITH THE FISH AND FISHING POLES???!!!"

I actually thought this game was one of those dollar-store things they make for a month and then no one else knows or has them but you. Turns out I was wrong *jaw-drops*.
If you never played with this amazing, time-consuming, battery-draining object, lemme fill you in. The blue water-plastic base spun around, while the fish, who bobbed up and down, tried to snap at the lures on the fishing poles. I believe there was some point or score to this whole thing...but in the end we were rather fascinated with the fish's teeth and hinged jaws and somehow the poles got lost or broken. And the batteries, after a long and faithful journey, gave out.

*MEMORIES*

Scrabble is still a huge game for us all to play. But when I was little it was a whole other game. *ahem* there were a few...a bunch, of words that probably never existed.

*Me to Josh* "that's not a word!!!"
*Josh* "Yeah it is!"
"Well look it up!"

*a heated debate similar to Fox News descends upon us*.

the Emperor's New Groove, Birds on a Wire...and Fat Albert

I grew up trying to decide whether Yzma was an old woman or a purple onion.
Either or, Emperor's New Groove was basically the all-around kids movie. Pssh, what am I saying, it's the all-around any age movie. Kuzco's facial expressions tho. And Kronk!
K so I did not know they were still playing birds on a wire. Saw this pin the other day and completely related...today's kids won't even know how deaf we got when we saw the THX come on the screen.

Was I the only one who watched the Fat Albert movie or did you all watch that too?? LOL google labeled it as a 'romantic comedy' *dries eyes*. We legit still say "Check it, B" and sing the

"nanana gonna have good time, HEY HEY HEY"

Did you relate again?

Would you eat Kronk's spinach puffs?

Did Mickey's eyes make you cry?

...PS: I'll be 15 on April 19th...

She Could Only Be A WRITER

7:05 PM

As November chills have been calling to each other from the burgundy leaves in the trees, so I have been singing 'Down to the River'. I have officially written over 30 PAGES this month. And painting is not lacking. Or movie watching (I WATCHED THE SOUND OF MUSIC FOR THE FIRST TIME. It was epic and watching it makes me happy).

Does 'the Sound of Music' make you happy?
Are you singing 'Raindrops on Roses & Whiskers on Kittens'?

Movies to Watch, well, Forever

8:10 PM

It's summer! You know those days when you've played, got ridiculously hot and then cooled off going swimming. You come home, eat some popcorn, and grab a scoop (or five) of vanilla ice cream (because vanilla goes with any occasion). The cherry to top off your summer day is what you call a forever movie.

You know exactly what I'm talking about.

Those movies, though you have watched them since toddlerhood, that never get old. You can watch them again and again. Matter of fact, you'll probably be watching them for the rest of your life. Your grandchildren will be watching them with you.

~For the sleepover~

Obviously this movie is fully equipped for any slumber party. You can tell just by the front cover. It has romance, adventure (to keep you awake), humor, and miracle chocolates. Anything with chocolate, right?

This movie is a classic.

And the passing boy family members will most likely stop to watch as the sword fighting scene comes closer (and to take some of your vanilla ice cream). It's just all around, for any age or person.

'nuff said. Go and see yourself.

~For your Dad~

Okay, so...this one was technically inspired by my Dad, who believes this movie never gets old. In a way it doesn't. Evan brutalizing himself building the Ark is just as hilarious as it once was. And it still sorta kinda grabs your interest.

Really it is a good movie.

All the revelations, and Evan Baxter turning from a 'successful Congressman' to New York's Noah is a funny, yet fulfilling plot line.

Warning: after your Dad insists on watching this every weekend you may resent this post.

~For family movie night~

"Yes darling, yes." I've seen this movie probably more than I should, yet when I sit down, I end up watching it again.
It's a full-fledged family movie, while your parents are laughing about one thing you didn't understand awhile ago, you and your sibling are laughing over Dash putting the tack on his teacher's seat.
And it never slows down. If something isn't burning, someones getting hurt, or going to be, or maybe their running from the bad guys...

~For your Siblings~

I wonder how many times I've watched this one.

With such greatly animated characters, personalities, and voices, it is so fit for a night with younger kids. Or big kids.

I mean, Disney made monsters likable. How do you do that?!

With creativity, I suppose. And purple polka dots. and a green, soccer-ball like thing.

And some humor, of course.

"I'm watching you, Wazowski. Always watching. Always."

~For your Mom~

I wonder into the living room...some chaotic scene in a Cinderella retelling is going on...I sit down...I stay there.

Drew Barrymore is perfect for this movie.

And oh!

Her Stepmother! I mean, you really, really dislike her stepmother. And, in my opinion, that is a necessity for a Cinderella movie.
Drew Barrymore is so humble in this, yet so spunky, that you feel her pain. And when she throws apples at the Prince...haha. And when her evil stepsister (because in this particular movie there is only one) burns her book!!! The indignation! And when she is married, and the Stepmother is in her place (in a vat of dye).

Yes, this movie is certainly qualified for Mother Daughter movie night. Just press play and add chocolate.

What are your 'Forever Movies' that you can watch again and again?
Have you ever seen these films?

Spring, Spring, Spring,

2:46 PM

Oh, the barnyard is busy in a regular tizzy,

And the obvious reason is because of the season

Ma Nature's lyrical, with her yearly miracle
Spring, Spring, Spring.

Every field wears a bonnet
With some spring daisies on it,
Even birds of a feather show their clothes off together.

Sun's gettin' shinery, to spotlight the finery,

Spring, spring, spring!

It was quite warm early on around here...and then, it got cool, and rain rain rain. Now it has warmed up, and we have begun gardening. I planted some of our budding potatoes, and guess what?

I'm growing potatoes! We've hoed, and dug, and planted, and prepared almost fully our mini farmette. I'm not doing corn this year (as my longer-time-followers may remember how that went) instead I want to plant one of my absolute favorites....watermelon. Oooh.

Are you gardening this year? Do you know what 1954 movie the lyrics above are from?

Sing the praises of the Lord, you his faithful people;

    praise his holy name.
5
For his anger lasts only a moment,
    but his favor lasts a lifetime;
weeping may stay for the night,
but rejoicing comes in the morning.
~Psalm 30:4-5

Thee Infinity Dreams Tag ~ With Tangled Accents

1:47 PM

1. Thank the blogger who tagged you.
2. Tell us 11 facts about yourself.
3. Answer the 11 questions given to you.
4. Tag 11 bloggers and give them 11 new questions to answer.

The 11 facts

1. When I was six months old, my family packed into an R.V and took a trip around America. Hence, I have been to many famous landmarks, yet I don't remember them.

2. Hiccups have been there for me, since the womb.

3.  All my light-skinned friends have blonde hair.

4. I'm Irish. And British. And to many other things to count.

5. I favor root beer, pickles, strawberries and olives. Avocados are disgusting, though guacamole is delicious. Go figure.

6. I have been growing my hair out since around autumn 2015.

7. I'm currently learning the uke, Spanish, calligraphy and guitar.

8. The personality quiz calls me a Protagonist. Really?

9. My favorite time eras are the 1950's, the Victorian era, and the Edwardian era (The last one mainly for the hairstyles).

10. I like to cook egg sandwiches. Or anything I can dose in Italian seasoning.

11. My favorite Disney Princess is Belle. Books, brown hair and courage!

1. What is your favorite name that starts with K?

K? Ohhh-that's kind of hard-umm...Kirsten, probably.

2. What are your birthday traditions?

My Mom has always put the Happy Birthday Banner up before/right as I wake up. It's special.

3. Do you prefer to write by hand, or type things up?

You know when you watch those period drama movies, and a girl is writing with a calligraphy pen? That scritch scritch is one of the very essences of writing. Besides that, I prefer (okay, I'm more lazy) to type, even though sometimes staring at a computer screen just drains my creativity. Honestly, I like typing on my typewriter. It's faster than handwriting, and more whimsical than the computer.

4. Do you collect anything?

I collect...pens, pencils, clear crisp sheets of purely white paper, books, and....haha...pets, when I can.

5. What is your least favorite chore?

...Probably picking weeds out of our gravel driveway when it's hot out. Ugh.

6. How long have you had your blog, and what is one tip you would share?

On July 18th my blog will be two years old ( *yaaay*). Invite people to your blog-Goodreads is a great way-just leave your link and a nice, friendly little message. It's hard to believe last summer I had 6 followers, and now I have 36.

7. Do you prefer to read short blog posts, or long ones, and why?

I like blog posts with sections of talking, then pictures that go with the subject. Something meaningful, with quotes, maybe, and other little tidbits that draw your interest, your laughs, and your random thoughts. If it is long and just as I described, than I don't mind.

8. What is your favorite month of the year?

Dear April. I don't know if it's because this is my birth month, or just because it is one of the loveliest months of spring. Perhaps both.

9. If you were given $100, what would you do with it?

First I would give 1/10, according to the Bible. Then I might save it, till either I purchase another pet, or whittle it away slowly on cheese popcorn, Late July Chips and goodies from T.J Maxx.

10. If you could visit one fictional world, which would it be?

Narnia. 'nuff said.

11. Do you write your blog posts way ahead of time, or do you tend to write them on the spur of the moment?

Ha-I can answer that one easily. Most of the time it's a spur-of-the-moment kind of thing. Especially when I have a 'Christian ramble' (where I get really fired up about something that bothers me, and how people can change it). If it's a long-ish post, that most likely means I spent some time saving it and coming back.

Thank you Emily! You can visit Emily's adorable blog over at A Purpose and a Promise.

I tag...Whosoever just read this. No joke, I tag YOU.

My questions for you would be...

  1. When you dream....it's mostly of?
  2. Daydreamer or night dreamer?
  3. 5 Things your castle in the sky consists of?
  4. Favorite Disney heroine?
  5. What is your 3 most favorite fantasy novels?
  6.  3 most favorite fantasy movies?
  7. 5 top fantasy characters?
  8. If you could meet a Centaur or a Fairy, which would it be?
  9. Pegasus or Unicorn?
  10. Favorite Disney castle?
  11. Favorite Disney steed?
