BEHIND THE RED CURTAIN (because dancers are more than hairspray and hard work) 1ST RECITAL DONE

10:25 AM

(blurriness is inevitable in the theater)

Doing semi-private classes, and finishing up my first dance year at a new school, I've learned a few things.

Dancers don't just dance.

Their also makeup artists,
Hair stylists
students
friends
the race of people that can quick change in 5 seconds
and, especially in ballet, people with at least semi-patience who can take both praise and disappointment.

Because we all have those times when we've tried so hard and it just flops. I think it's important to dance, not just because you have it in you or you want to do it, but because it teaches you so many things to be in a dance class.

Because A girl who's sixteen could be learning from an eleven year old...and both of them with humility and patience. Because the best dancer in the class might move to the back of the stage while the clumsiest has 10 seconds of spotlight.

Because dance teaches you that work and hope is a reward in itself; and that the impossible isn't really as far from reach as you think it is.

So yes, dancers are people who spend their year sweating and cramping and stretching for six minutes of stage time. But if someone watched us, and tallied all the lessons we learned, they'd find that dancing is so much more.

So

Here's to all you girls
Who try hard
And think no one notices
You got this
God is with you

Dance on

Do you know the above to be true?

LOL YES I'll tell all the things...well, I think I'd always wanted to dance since I was little because it's so beautiful. I didn't start till 11, when I only did 3 months, and then this last fall I started back up and now just finished my first 'real' dance year (tho I'm still taking classes).
REALLY?? We've been watching every episode! Weren't Keone and Mari Madrid the cutest?

      I think you're a superwoman, Michaila. <333
YESSSSS YOU'RE WATCHING IT TOO. *highfives* Waiwaitwait who were Keone and Mari? They were that couple with the lady from Ukraine, right? If we're both thinking of the same people, THEN YES THEY WERE ADORABLE. <333 Do you have any favorite dancers yet? I think that guy who was telling the story of his parents' divorce was INSANELY good. Our dad is watching 'World of Dance' too, and he says that guys is one of his favorites.

    3. LOL well we don't have to do 3x pirouette yet (that was just something I was working on) but yes I have my right and at times *laughs in pain* left split and am about 7 in. from middle/straddle split. And the recital WAS pretty pro looking but it was for everyone, all the dancers...which makes it fun to see ;)

      HAHA *dries tears* I wish.
UMMM....here, here's a link to their youtube performance--https://youtu.be/AAn6vHeb3uA ---they are the cutest.
I remember him; he won So You Think You can Dance. Idk but evertime I see him I think of Reggie on Fat Albert xD .

    4. OHMYGRACIOUS you are almost at a straddle split?????? GIRRRRRRRL. I remember I used to be really into gymnastics, and I was able to do a right split (I believe it was my right...? xD) but I NEVER got to a straddle split!!
Oooh, yeah, we just watched their duel. AND I AM SO GLAD THEY WON AND YES THEY ARE ADORABLE. I can't wait to watch their next performance!! I am kinda disappointed that Kyntay got beat by Eva though...I liked Kyntay a lot! Maybe I'll change my mind when I watch more of Eva's performances...time will tell!

    5. I'M AT MY KNEES now when I lie flat out in straddle (or if that's straddle when your knees are out not sure) so any day here I should be at a real middle split. Really??? Yeah it's taken me quite a bit lol xD.
Keone and Mari have some of the cutest dance numbers---but their audition performance is still my favorite <333.

I am liking hip-hop the more I watch this show; Eva is really, really talented the way she is choreographed mixes in with her talent beautifully. I know what she's doing takes an incredible amount of skill level! It's so hard to see anyone go home on this show, because their all so talented!

  5. Your costume is adorable! I love this post. I don't dance, but I can relate somewhat. Live theatre is somewhat similar. Especially musicals that involve lots of choreography. Thanks for posting!
