Sights of the Kalmar Nyckel

Walk the decks of the Tall Ship
of Delaware; let your imagination
carry you back in time and out to sea...

Our family visited a nearby island yesterday, and got the chance to observe the Kalmar Nyckel, a replica of a 1600's tall mast ship. It is the tall ship of Delaware. Unfortunately we did not have the chance to board, but saw many very fascinating things anyways.

I wanted to climb crazily up the ropes and land in the bird's nest so badly. I mean, perhaps I've watched Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean just too many times...but I want to get hold of a sword, and stand up there with one hand on it pointing to the sky and the other holding the pole.

As the day's last colors faded across the bay, we left the tall ship, and headed home. Once before I saw a tall mast ship, but, being so young I don't remember it enough to describe it now. After inspecting the Kalmar Nyckel, I feel like I can add something new and exciting to my stories...after seeing something from a storybook.

Have you ever seen a Tall Mast Ship?
Do you often hum the Pirates of the Caribbean theme?
