2015 Reading Challenge
3:58 PMI took the Goodreads 2015 Challenge for fifteen books and finished with three ahead of schedule! Here's the fifteen...
The Silver Chair
I re-read this book. Every Chronicles of Narnia novel is amazing, although this one isn't my favorite, it's still a great book and I'm SUPER excited for the upcoming movie!
Favorite Scene: The Giants-Castle scene is good, and the part where they come up into Narnia finally is great.
Favorite Character: My favorite character is probably good 'ol Puddlegum.
The Seven Wonders of Sassafras Springs
Originally I had read the Humphrey the Hamster series a couple years ago (which now is a bit young for me) so I wanted to read another book by Betty G. Birney. I thought this book was really cute, and it inspired me to write my short story The Dusty Middle of Nowhere.
Favorite Scene: Hmmm....maybe the story of the man playing his saw to scare off locust.
Favorite Character: I suppose Eben McAllister.
Treasures in the Snow
(sorry for the blurriness)
Goodreads actually recommended this to me, then I ordered it from the library and read it. From the beginning tale to Christmas stories and charity, the story was very good and the Christian message was amazing. This, was a good book.
Favorite Scene: When Lucien treks through snow to get to the doctor, and then a bit at the hotel.
Favorite Character: I actually felt bad for Lucien, after all in the end he risked his life for another.
Anne of Windy Poplars
Wow-Anne looks so young on this cover! I'm currently reading Rilla of Ingleside. I enjoy most the series but again, this one wasn't my favorite. There was a lot of letters and such-however, it still was a good book.
Favorite Scene: I like the scene where Anne reunites Elizabeth with her Father.
Favorite Character: Maybe Rebbeca Dew (of course I like Anne too).
A Growing Suspicion
I don't read American girl books a lot anymore, but sometimes I still like to read the mysteries. This book was okay-I do enjoy reading about her life and her Jewish family. The mystery was kind of predictable and kind of not.
Favorite Scene: I like a lot of the Rubin family's goings-on scene.
Favorite Character: Rebecca Rubin of course!
A Bundle of Trouble
Another American Girl Book! This one I definitely liked better. The story was good and so was the ending. It is really cool to have a peek to the past like this.
Favorite Scene: When Rebecca catches the kidnapper was a good scene-but over all most the book was probably pretty well done.
Favorite Character: Probably the Italian family.
Mandie and the Mysterious Bells
Since these aren't just my favorites but the books I've read through the year, there are some I didn't like a whole lot. Some of the Mandie books are great...but this one I thought wasn't the best. The mystery wasn't very upbeat.
Favorite Scene: I'm really not sure I had one for this book.
Favorite Character: Mandie-although her friend and Joe are good too. And don't forget Snowball.
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Flies Again
Ohhhh, this book. If you are younger than me, like wacky-weird very unrealistic books this is for you. This book was not for me.
Anne's House of Dreams
The sweet house of dreams, where dear Jem was born. I liked this book, and was happy to see that Leslie Moore ended up with a happy story after all. Also Anne and Gilbert as a young couple going and meeting their new neighbors was pleasant-especially when to the lighthouse.
Favorite Scene: Anne and Gilbert's wedding sounded beautiful.
Favorite Character: Captin Jim, Cornelia Bryant,
Favorite Character: Captin Jim, Cornelia Bryant,
Anne of Ingleside
And Anne is a mother, with her own dear red-heads and Gilbert like children, With all their little mishaps, this is a cute book telling their and Anne's both adventures.
Favorite Scene: All the Blythe children's little tales
Favorite Character: Nan, Anne, the children.
Favorite Scene: All the Blythe children's little tales
Favorite Character: Nan, Anne, the children.
Rainbow Valley
Jem, Walter, Di and Nan all have splendid times down in Rainbow valley with the Manse Children. From Faith walking into church without her stockings on, to the children finding poor Mary in an old barn, there is almost always some crazy adventure happening.
Favorite Scene: I really liked a lot of all their little funny adventure scenes, especially when Faith got up in front of everyone at Church to clear her Father's name.
Favorite Character: oh my...Walter, Faith, and Una-but Rosemary West has such a sweet heart.
All-of-a-Kind Family
This was a cute, simple little book. You get a chance to peek into the lives and personalities of many sisters living in old New York.
Favorite Scene: The Beach scene was nice.
Favorite Character: I'm not sure, probably a sister.
Misty of Chincoteague
This book was a bit young for me. Still, it was cool to learn about Chincoteague Island and pony round-ups.
Favorite scene: The pony-round up was a good scene, although this book had a lot of interesting happenings.
Favorite Character: The Phantom.
Sarah, Plain and Tall
The reason I read this was because I was wondering what all those blog names and such were about! Even though it is small and for younger readers, I liked it. I think it was a good story.
Favorite Scene: maybe when Sarah comes riding in for the first time.
Favorite Character: I'm not really sure about this one.
Sense and Sensibility
Yes, I finished this book and it still holds the record for the biggest book I've ever read! My copy was over 500 pages. It was an amazing book. When Willoughby was evil you felt it. The lesson was excellent, the sister's growing relationship was true, and the writing was classically wonderful.
Favorite Scene: Oh...probably the ending.
Favorite Character: I'am neither Elinor nor Marianne, though they both had their good traits. My favorite characters, were definitely Edward, and Elinor and Mrs. Jennings.
That concludes my 2015 Reading challenge post. Thank you so much if you read all of that and I hope you all have a great day!
