A little lighthouse

6:51 PM

I have been doing some crafting lately-as well as painting this little birdhouse here. No, it doesn't have finishing touches but that may come later. The main middle part is supposed to be sky colors. Though right now I can't actually paint portraits, I am thoroughly enjoying painting the sky (I placed the birdhouse on our front porch-you can kind of see how dry everything is-it still hasn't rained, but in two days it's going to).

I also painted a picture of a little Mexican village with the sky above it...but isn't quite my best. Here's a tiny colorful picture I did the other day (sorry about the rip-it was on a notepad).

Me and my Mom make chokers from lace, string, beads and different charms. It is amazing how a choker can transform your neck to make it look elegant, especially if it has lace or pearls. And even if you want a more casual look, you can go for beads and a charm.

Yesterday I learned how to knit! (yaay! Now I can knit slippers!) I'm still not very good. Both my wrists are sore at times from all that clicking and struggling at way too tight stitches. I wanted a hobby that I could sit down and do around the house. Plus, when you think about it, some day I may be knitting hats, gloves and scarves for my children :). It's a very useful thing to pick up. My Mom has been trying to undo the yarn skein today. Oddly enough it has a bunch of knots in it just from how it was made. I'm planing on making a scarf...but who knows what it will turn into (this below is my current progress and my Mom's yarn ball she's making).

On the subject of crafting, Annmarie Garden, our local art park (also the place where I took ballet) is having its annual Artfest this month. It's actually really enjoyable to walk around and see the vendors and their art...and eat some ice cream while at it. I may post a post about that later on. So what have you been crafting? Can you knit?

Thanks for reading!
