The Peaceful Mice of Redwall get ready to celebrate another year with the Abbot, feasting and celebrating all night. When Matthias, a young, clumsy mouse inspired by Redwalls hero ;Martin the Warrior, takes the big church mouse family home, the ground rumbles beneath them. A horse gallops past and behind it in a hay cart, hundreds of evil rats, armed to the teeth and full of tattoos. Cluny, the evil rat is sure to take Redwall, but Matthias has hope. Inspired by Redwall's hero, Matthias and his friends defend the ancient Abbey and fight to bring back peace. But they need help, and in his journey to find Martin's sword, Matthias meets a few friends, including Warbeak the "Spara"(sparrow) and Basil, the comical hare. Matthias journeys across the river to the dangerous quarry, where the evil snake keeps Martin's strong sword. Will he survive against Cluny and the snake? will Redwall once again enjoy peace?
